As a church we are taking a step into God’s presence by praying and fasting together for the next 5 days.
Spiritual fasting is simply giving up something you want (what you fast from) for something you want more (to draw closer to God).
When we fast, use the time away from what we’re fasting from and spend that time with God.
Take a few minutes to think of something you plan to fast from. (food, sweets, social media, television, meat, etc.) and also think of what you will replace those things with. (reading the New Testament, a Bible reading plan on the YouVersion APP, praying, watching The Chosen Series, etc)
Some people may not be able to fast from food altogether for medical reasons. They may choose to abstain only from certain foods, like meat or sweets, or from something other than food. We can fast from anything, such as television, social media, or soda, as a way of redirecting our focus from earthly things toward God.
